Leisure Eaters

Sometimes after church, ok make it often, we end up going out to eat. A number of times that takes us to Taco Bueno. So it was today. We order, get our food and proceed to chow down.

After about 20 minutes, Jodi, Jack and I are all through. But Molly, that is another story. Molly is a leisure eater. She enjoys the experience of dinning with others and their company. This isn't just a Sunday after church thing either...it is at home for lunch, at dinner at Nana and Papa's basically anywhere there is food and people...Molly is going to take her time and soak it in.

So I begin to play a little game. Basically I would wait until she hadn't taken a bite for a minute and ask, "Are you done?". The answer always was... "Not yet!" and as she would say it...hand straight for a chip.

I told her she needed to move to Italy with the leisure eaters. That she would fit in well there. A few minutes pass...and MOlly beings to whine a bit. And in her best little girl voice...

"Daddy, I don't want to go to Italy",

"Why Molly,"

"Because the leisure eaters will eat me."

Ahh...the english language and a little girl's mind.

Political Bent Follow up

In case anyone was on the edge of their seat waiting for what candidate lined up most with me...I am just like the better half. John Edwards. Guess the better half and I make a good pair.

What is your political bent?

Here is my challenge to you. Go to this site, answer the questions honestly, and see what candidate pops out for you. Then let me know in the comments. I can tell you I was bit surprised by the result for me, but it shows how you rate as a social conservative or liberal vs economic conservative or liberal. And my placement was just about where I would have expected me to come out. So I think it placed me pretty well...just didn't realize which candidate I lined up with.

Electoral Compass

I won't spoil the fun...I will tell you who I got after I see some answers.

San Antonio...kind of

The better half and I have been married now 11 years. And since we both know each other well enough I knew it wouldn't be a big deal if we cashed in an offer to sit through a time share presentation to get a cheap rate on a riverwalk hotel. At least this sounded like a good idea at the time. Let's just say that the weekend was a little bit of a comedy of errors and underwhemlingness, but because of which I thoroughly enjoyed as you will see.

When we got to our hotel there were literally hundreds of teenage kids in the hotel. Just so happens that the Army high school all-america bowl was in town that weekend and all the kids on the teams (and parents/coaches/etc) were in our hotel. Turned out ok...these kids are serious...no partying that we could hear at least.

Then as the bellman was heading us up to the room he informed us we had a parlor room. Ok. I had no idea what that is. Then in the elevator he explained. It is a room where the bed folds out. Immediately I have images of being folded up in the bed in the middle of the night. Fortunately for us...that didn't happen. Room was ok, but could have done with a better bed.

The one perk to our room however is that it looked out directly over the riverwalk. Which looks like this.

Our first night there it was dark and you couldn't really see anything, but the next morning as we went out...that wasn't the picture we saw. In fact there was barely any water in the riverwalk at all. They had drained it for its annual cleaning. Good times.

The fun continued...but I will just give you the highlights. Jodi laughed at the guy giving our time share presentation when he mentioned the cost, let's just say our exit was sped up after that. We got to ride public transportation with a 63 year old lady who told us where she used to get in fights when she was growing up and how she was married to a golden gloves champ. Every time you walked outside you got hit up for money. And last but not least by far. After we were seated a Mi Terra's for lunch a group came in to sit at the table next to us. This was Jodi's view:

Really good times!

Still had a wonderful time hanging out with my best friend and enjoying the laughs.
